Joe Burrow who?
Homer Simpson and Bart Simpson are putting on a show on Monday Night Football.
Yes, that is a real sentence.
The Simpsons have invaded MNF.
ESPN has been gearing up for the Simpsons alternate telecast between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys for quite some time, and it’s delivering.
‘The Simpsons Funday Football’ as it is being called, has been a hit so far amongst fans.
The telecast has included live animation and graphics as if the game was taking place in an episode of The Simpsons.
Homer Simpson threw a touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb in the first quarter and the internet went crazy.
“Homer Simpson is the best quarterback the Cowboys have had in decades,” one fan posted on X.
Another fan took a jab at the New York Giants, posting, “Homer Simpson has more touchdown passes than the Giants did this week.”
Homer’s son, the iconic Bart Simpson, then matched his dad, with a touchdown pass of his own to Ralph Wiggum.
A Simpson QB duel broke out on MNF.
Of course if you aren’t a fan of the Simpsons, you can find ESPN’s usual broadcast, of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, along with the Manningcast.
It is a battle of two of the most disappointing teams in the NFL.
The 4-8 Bengals versus the 5-7 Cowboys.
Two teams with Super Bowl aspirations heading into the season, are now battling for draft position.
While not officially eliminated from the postseason, each team has less than a 4% chance to make the playoffs.
In other words, it’s time to start looking at mock drafts.
If not for the Simpsons version of the broadcast, this game was more likely than not going to get flexed out of it’s primetime slot.
However, because of all the drawings, voiceovers and graphics that went into preparing these two teams to enter the world of The Simpsons, the NFL and ESPN couldn’t move it.
Besides, if Homer, Bart and the rest of the Simpsons gang weren’t part of the broadcast, there’s a good chance no one would even bother to tune in.
And that is the story of the 2024 Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.
