Napoli striker lauded on scoring feats
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has ended 2022 as the most expensive Nigeria star on the Transfer Market, while fellow Super Eagles ace Ademola Lookman enjoyed the biggest increase in value.
Osimhen, 24, is now valued at 70 Million Euros.
This is an increase of 7.7% from 65 Million Euros.
The striker is expected to enjoy another increase by the next update as he is now the leading scorer in Serie A with nine goals as table toppers Napoli make another charge for the Scudetto.
Meanwhile, Atalanta forward Lookman has made the Top 100 Biggest Risers on the global Transfer Market valuation.
The 25-year-old winger’s new price tag is 20 Million Euros, which is double his previous transfer value of 10 Million Euros.
This is partly in recognition of what he has achieved in the first half of the Italian Serie A campaign.
He has netted seven goals with his club still among the front runners.
Other top risers on the Transfer Market are Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun, (108), 14 Million Euros, 250% increase; Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika (146), 13 Million Euros, 160% increase; FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi (187),15 Million Euros, 66.7% increase.
In a related development, former Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano has praised the Super Eagles striker for his zeal and his desire for results whenever he is on the pitch.
Slowly but steadily, Nigerian hitman Osimhen is writing his name as a great in Napoli’s history books. He just arrived in Napoli in September 2020, but he has won many hearts.
Osimhen scored just ten goals in Serie A in his first season because of long injury layoffs.
However, last season, he hit 14 in 27 games. This season, it is not even halfway into the season yet, and the 23-year-old point man already has nine goals in his kitty.
“Osimhen has incredible strength, he has an obvious hunger for goals, he never leaves a ball to chance,” 2021 Copa America winner Gargano told Napoli Magazine. “If he gets it wrong he gets angry with himself because he always wants to get the best. He wants to break everything.
“It’s good to keep running and pedalling, just like he’s doing”
The Partenopeans currently sit atop the Serie A, eight points above second-placed AC Milan.
Napoli have not lost a game this season. They resume Serie A with a big game against Inter Milan. Osimhen would want to be at his best, as a win against Inter Milan would give Napoli a big boost in their hunt for the Scudetto.
