I’m a work in progress —Temitope Aremu

NOLLYWOOD actress and producer, Temitope Rukayat Aremu, is building a brand that is becoming synonymous with success and dedication in the industry, and she hopes to continue her impressive journey in the film industry.

Since joining Nollywood in 2015/2016, Aremu has made significant strides as both an actress and a producer, carving out a niche for herself with her unique storytelling and compelling performances.

Despite the challenges, Aremu does not feel threatened by anyone in the industry. “I do not, have never, and will never feel threatened by anyone in this industry because I know my onion, and it has been working for me perfectly. I’m a work in progress, and God has been faithful,” she asserts.

As a producer, Aremu has an impressive portfolio that includes movies such as “Ojukoro (Face Off),” “Karma,” “Mr & Mrs Bernard,” “Niwura,” “Broken Fate,” and “Ikorira (Hatred).” Her ability to bring stories to life with such depth and relatability has earned her a growing fan base and critical acclaim.

In addition to her producing credits, Aremu has showcased her versatility as an actress in various notable projects. She has starred in “That One Time” by Bimpe and Lateef Adedimeji, “Hand in Hand” by Ruth Kadiri, “The Therapist” by Motilola Akinlami, “Tenifayo” by Mercy Flawless, and “Ilepa” by Abiola Paul Bogunbe. Her performances have been praised for their authenticity and emotional range.

Currently, Aremu is working on “Super Story (The Curse),” a Wale Adenuga Production (WAP), where she plays the lead character. This role is just one of the many exciting projects she is involved in, reflecting her commitment to delivering top-notch entertainment.

Aremu’s education at Yaba College of Technology, where she studied Mass Communication, has undoubtedly contributed to her understanding of the media and entertainment industry. Her training under Mercy Ebosele, after entering the industry through Mukaray’s group, has further honed her skills.

Reflecting on Nollywood’s growth, Aremu expresses pride in the industry’s progress. “I feel like Nollywood is getting there already. We are getting all the accolades and attention, and I’m super proud of everyone making this happen, including myself,” she says.

Looking ahead, Aremu is eager to work with some of Nollywood’s most esteemed actors. She lists Sola Sobowale, RMD, Mike Folarin, Timini Egbuson, and Ruth Kadiri—whom she describes as “an amazing human”—as her top choices.

Prepared for the competitive nature of the industry, Aremu is confident in her abilities and determined to stay relevant. “I’m fully prepared,” she states with a smile. She believes that her mark will be made by producing “nothing but the best movies” and contributing positively to society.

Aremu’s approach to new scripts is methodical and passionate. “I think about how to bring the script to life by doing my best,” she says. She embraces challenging roles and looks forward to more, hinting at a future project where she plays a warrior—a stark contrast to her usual roles.

On the issue of piracy, Aremu is unequivocal about its detrimental impact. “Piracy is the number one factor that is killing the movie industry. Imagine putting your money, sweat, and blood into a movie and seeing people watching your sweat for less or no amount of money at all,” she laments.

Inspired by the ability to see beyond the usual and her alone time, Aremu remains focused on her creative journey. She firmly states that no amount of money would make her pose nude, underscoring her values and principles.

Fans eagerly anticipate her latest projects, “Ota Olohun” and “Love Triangle,” expecting nothing less than the excellence she consistently delivers.
