Hearts star Beni Baningime has stated that being a Manchester United fan, he understands the frustration and criticism coming from the Jambos faithful for the club not doing well.
Steven Naismith’s side have begun the season in a poor manner, as they have failed to win a single game in the Scottish Premiership so far, sitting eleventh in the league table.
The Jam Tarts faithful are unhappy with the performances of their team and Naismith’s men have been subject to heavy criticism.
Baningime compared Hearts’ situation with his favourite club Manchester United, who have also started the season in poorly, and stated that he understands how fans are feeling when their team are failing to meet their expectations.
The Hearts star added that fans are entitled to have an opinion and revealed that even he heavily criticises the Manchester United players when they fail to perform.
“I’m a Manchester United fan, right?, Baningime told the Edinburgh Evening News.
“If you hear me in the changing room, what I say about the players, these players are top players.
“Fans have the right to an opinion but, as a player, I don’t look at social media or all those different things whether things are going well or not.
“Fans are so important to back us, but ultimately it’s on us guys on the pitch to play well and start winning games.”
Hearts are set to take league leaders Celtic on Saturday and Naismith’s men will be determined to get a good result against the Glasgow giants, even though the odds are firmly against them.
