This takeaway has a welcome twist you can’t find anywhere else
You never have to ask me twice if I want a takeaway. No matter the cuisine, be it Chinese, Indian, Turkish, classic fish and chips or something entirely unfamiliar, I’ll be running for my credit card without a second thought. This week, however, in a never-before-seen fashion, I had to deny the offer because I hadn’t been feeling the best.
Woe is me, I know, but that didn’t stop the rest of my household from ordering a takeaway regardless. Not willing to be left out due to pure gluttony, we made the deal to find somewhere offering lighter, healthier food – and that’s how we stumbled upon Planet Health.
On Warbreck Moor, Fazakerley, Planet Health claims there is nothing else like it anywhere in Liverpool. A quick glance at the menu will confirm this. Where else can you order fresh spiced salmon with asparagus or vegetarian pesto tagliatelle? Thrilled that I could have what felt like a healthy, home-cooked meal delivered straight to my door, I was sold.

I was initially torn between the tuna pasta salad and grilled sea bass but ultimately I opted for the crispy chef special – lemon and pepper coated crispy chicken, halloumi, broccoli, mushroom, spring onion with a side of avocado on a bed of basmati rice. Just for good measure, I also ordered a side of skin-on fries.
The delivery arrived 15 minutes before expected – a welcome surprise. The boxes were in my hands before I managed to prepare the dining arrangements. Portions were massive with no skimping on the meat or halloumi. I assumed the majority of the meal would be veggies and rice so I was taken aback by how generous the restaurant could be with the stars of the show.
I tucked in and it was still piping hot. The chicken was charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, and went phenomenally with the sticky, smoky sauce. The halloumi had just the right rubbery texture and paired very well with the avocado. Cheese and avocado – who would’ve thought!

There were plenty of soft, sautéed mushrooms to scoop up with every mouthful but, surprisingly, the broccoli was the most absent member in the box. I assumed there’d be copious amounts to pad out the order but as previously mentioned, Planet Health doesn’t skimp on giving you what you’ll prefer.
I couldn’t finish the meal so I kept it in the fridge and ate it the next day. It was too good to waste. Despite feeling sick I devoured as much as I could because it was absolutely delicious. There’s so much more on the menu I want to try. The juices, wraps and burgers sound great but the next thing I’ll be grabbing is the lean flank steak with homemade peppercorn sauce.
