People’s concerns about what is happening in the country today is no longer the business of adults, particularly parents, alone. Children too have a ‘fair share’ of the various challenges facing all and sundry. In the light of this development, the young ones no longer discuss just cartoons or movies only; they now also discuss Nigeria’s problems among themselves. Aunty ‘Yemi sampled the opinions of some students of SHARON ROSE SCHOOLS, SAKI, Oyo State, on the content of their current discussions on Nigeria.
Azeezat Omobola Musbaudeen
I discuss the issue of bad roads in Nigeria with my friends, which has been causing accidents and loss of lives. Despite all the basic amenities in Nigeria, our leaders are unable to construct good roads for the masses. I pray that God will help Nigeria.
Elijah Adegoke Alakeji
The giant of Africa – Nigeria, has changed drastically. My friends and I usually discuss the days my parents told me, which were better than this present one. Days of tight security, better economic system, good governance and lots more. May God restore Nigeria.
Omolara Oroniyi
My friends and I discuss the high price of goods. Formerly, a pen was N50 but it is now N100. Because of the high cost of petroleum, students have now resorted to trekking to school thereby making us miss some important classes. I pray that God will deliver Nigeria.
Conde Sheku
The economic situation of Nigeria is nothing to write home about. Nigeria is now seen as a harsh country. Citizens are suffering and in confusion. This is all because of the scarcity and high cost of petroleum, then the massive devaluation of the local currency. Nigeria’s economic system can only change by God’s intervention. These are the contents of my discussion with friends.
Hammad Ikuogbogun
I tell my friends that Nigeria is a country of peace. If there is unity among the leaders and the people, Nigeria would be the best country in Africa, even in the world. I desire unity among Nigerians, so that the lost glory will return.
Victoria Adeleke
I discuss with my friends my wish and prayer that God will return the lost glory of the country. God will change Nigeria for the better. We also talk about the Japa (migrate from the country) syndrome’ and the need for people to put a stop to it. In addition, we rub minds on the issue of insecurity of which we hope will become a thing of the past, as well as improvement in the state of the country’s economy for the better.
Dorcas Omotoso
I tell my friends that I am fed up with everything in Nigeria, especially the issue of transportation. I trust God that things will soon be cheap again because there is nothing impossible for Him to do.
Folarin Ajekiigbe
Some of the issues I discuss with my friends are the effects of insecurity, subsidy removal and the general high cost of living. People are being kidnapped and are being asked to pay ransom. The suffering is just too much. May God help us.
Marveline Ikeh
Indeed, I tell my friends that Nigeria is a home with great leaders, a grooming ground for its sprout, and a place of learning for those who want. I advise them not to japa out of the country because Nigeria will be better.
Esther Adedoja
My friends and I always discuss the fact that Nigeria is a great country, which has the ability and capacity to rise above every challenge. However, the removal of subsidy has thrown the nation into a state of confusion but it never meant the end of the road. Nigeria will become better just for us to cry to God for help.
Deborah Darasimi Abayomi
I tell my friends that Nigeria has to face the challenges she is facing now for her to be strong and great. Nigerians should have hope in their country and not run away from our problems rather, try to solve them. God will help us.
Peace Babarinde
Firstly, I discuss Nigeria’s bad economy with my friends; things are too costly. I also discuss politics, how our leaders steal our money. May God help and deliver us.
