Tottenham boss, Antonio Conte has said he is at a loss to explain their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah scored twice, before Harry Kane pulled one back as Spurs lost in front of their fans.
Conte told Sky Sports afterwards: “It’s difficult to explain the defeat. We deserved much more. But in the first half I was happy with the will, the desire. We put a lot of pressure on Liverpool and didn’t know why we were 2-0 down. In the second half we played very well, created many chances. The ‘keeper made good saves and we hit the post and crossbar.
“It’s a pity, it’s difficult to explain this type of game, the performance was good. Our fans can’t be happy when we lose but you have to be proud when your team fights from the start to the end.
“To have this type of performance in a difficult moment for us when we are managing many injuries, you need to find a new solution. Perisic and Kane as strikers was a good solution. To play with one striker, we would have delivered ourselves to Liverpool.
“We are a squad, we need to have all the players to be competitive in the Premier League and Champions League, three or four injuries make things difficult for us. But to have this kind of performance against Liverpool gave me satisfaction. It showed that our hard work worked.
“The fans tried to support from the start to the end, they appreciated the big effort the players gave. We attacked a lot in the second half, had a lot of chances. The result was unfair.”
