Public relations has become a fundamental tool for economic growth and societal transformation in developing nations, serving as a bridge between businesses, governments, and the public.
Recognising this, Nigerian Women in Public Relations (NWIPR) is set to highlight PR’s critical role at its upcoming ‘Experiencing PR’ conference, showcasing how strategic PR practices can drive sustainable progress and innovation across emerging markets and marginalised communities.
“We are in an era of rapid global change and increasing demands for innovation,” stated the Founder of NWIPR, Tolulope Olorundero. She highlighted how companies and businesses have adapted PR strategies to remain competitive. “From the unexpected rebranding of global brands to a conscious awakening of citizens across developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, we are in the wake of a global cultural revolution that organisations and executives must innovate around to remain competitive.”
Olorundero revealed that the 2025 edition, themed “PR for Results: Innovative Strategies for Business and Leadership Transformation,” will focus on delivering practical strategies for economic and leadership development. To enhance inclusivity, the event will feature tailored resources for Francophone African countries and the Deaf business community, incorporating language translation services and sign language interpreters to ensure broader participation.
According to her, the conference, scheduled to hold in March, will host over 1,000 in-person delegates and more than 3,000 virtual attendees, featuring mentorship sessions, keynote addresses, panel discussions, and exhibitions. “A key highlight will be the launch of the third edition of Experiencing PR Magazine, a publication dedicated to advancing public relations practice.”
Since its inception, the conference has attracted renowned speakers such as former Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr Yemi Kale; founder of LEAP Africa, Ndidi Nwuneli; and CEO of the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), James Hewes. “This reputation for drawing high-calibre participants ensures actionable insights for business leaders and public officeholders alike,” Olorundero noted.
She added that the conference is backed by leading corporate entities, including Unilever, Polaris Bank, ReelFruits, and YD Company, underscoring the importance of PR in shaping business success and governance.
