Hollyoaks have confirmed that Charlie Dean is heading back to the village for a visit next week just months after fans of the Channel 4 soap were left concerned that his exit was permanent

Charlie Dean is heading back to Hollyoaks just months after reports that actor Charlie Behan was leaving the Channel 4 soap after 13 years. The actor joined the show back in 2011 as Becca Dean and Justin Burton’s son, taking over the role from Joshua McConville.
When the Channel 4 soap jumped forward 12 months in September, the young lad was nowhere to be seen despite his on-screen family being at the centre of a huge storyline with Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith) bravely opening up about her twin brother JJ Osbourne (Ryan Mulvey)’s sexual abuse against her.
However, spoilers for Wednesday’s (November 20) episode reads “Frankie is delighted by Charlie’s visit home. He’s shocked when Lucas reveals the news about Dillon and Leah.” Fans will know that Leah Barnes (Ela-May Demircan) got pregnant at some point during the time jump and despite there being speculation that Charlie could be the father, it was revealed recently that Dillon Ray (Nathanial Dass) is the dad.

Dillon cheated on Leah’s brother Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) when he was sent to the young offenders for assaulting JJ after learning what he’d been doing to Frankie behind closed doors. With Charlie back in the village, what does this mean for the family?
Charlie’s return will no doubt send fans into meltdown after they were originally left outraged at his exit. One fan penned at the time: “NO!!!!! Why? Charlie has always been such a great character & well acted.” Another added: “I’m actually really confused about #Hollyoaks. Why bring back old characters that people were over but get rid of perfectly good (loyal) characters who people still love. It’s not the characters that are stale they just need new stories written for them, plenty of life left yet!”
Elsewhere, Jack Osbourne (Jimmy McKenna) urges Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) to stay strong about missing Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson). Nancy doubles down on not telling Frankie that Darren is actually missing and not staying with his sister.
Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) thinks Darren being missing is connected to Robbie killing Dave Williams (Dominic Power) as Darren’s abandoned car was one of his stolen motors.
At the garage, Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) sees Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) and Robbie arguing and thinks Rex has killed his husband James Nightingale (Greg Finnegan). At school, Nancy returns to work with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Nancy tells John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) she doesn’t think Darren will ever come back.
Will Charlie being back in the village be a reason for Darren to return home to his nearest and dearest or is he planning on staying away from longer?
