A 29-year-old Gombe State indigene, Anas Musa, has vowed never to give up his ambition of securing admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy or other security agencies.
Musa, in a chat with Arewa PUNCH, disclosed that while he waits for his luck to come through even after seven unsuccessful attempts to gain an enrollment into the prestigious military academy, he however consoled himself that
he has since taken to his other passion of making clothes.
Musa, who now prides himself as a fashion designer, is a graduate of Chemistry.
He told Arewa PUNCH about his intention to serve as an ordinance officer in the Army, saying, “I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, from Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State. My desire is to expand my research, development and innovation beyond the scope of only rocketry but in any aspect projection especially in the area of defence either serving as an Ordnance/Armament Officer in the Nigerian Armed Forces or as a Scientist.”
While explaining his various attempts to get enrolled into the military service so that he could deploy his ideas and stop the plaguing insecurity concerns in his region, Musa added, “I applied for NDA 64RC 2012, 65RC 2013, 66RC 2014 and 67RC 2015, then DSSC 26 (Army) 2022, DSSC Air Force 2023 and DSSC 28 Army 2024.”
The chemistry graduate, who further disclosed that he has built a rocket said he tests his rocket with community approval.
He narrated to Arewa PUNCH that he started building rockets at the age of 27, stressing that, “I started building the rockets since early 2022 with the intention of serving as an Ordnance officer in the Armed Forces.”
Asked what he does for a living since his passion has yet to materialise, Musa said, “I’m currently into fashion designing, but I won’t give up on my passion.”
Explaining further to our correspondent what exactly inspired his passion for the building of rockets, the scientist disclosed that building rockets has both military and space exploration capabilities.
He maintained, “Because one of my intentions is to build rockets that can reach an altitude of more than 100km within a couple of years as a thorough local military personnel, the rocket’s military capabilities contribute to enhancing national security by providing a platform for deploying reconnaissance satellites, communication networks, and other strategic assets,” he pointed out.
Musa disclosed more that his innovation if embraced by relevant stakeholders would foster more innovations, stimulate technological innovation in areas such as propulsion systems, materials science, artificial intelligence, and reusability, which can have far-reaching benefits beyond space exploration.
“Supporting commercial ventures, by offering versatility and adaptability, MPER can support commercial ventures such as satellite launches, space tourism, and private space missions, fostering economic growth and development in the space sector.
“Inspiring future generations, the pursuit of ambitious space exploration goals and the development of cutting-edge technology inspire and motivate future generations to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), driving innovation and progress in society.
“Overall, the goal of building the rocket is to unlock new possibilities in space exploration, national security, technology development, economic growth, and human inspiration,” he concluded.
