Generative wallpaper is one of the features you get as part of the Galaxy AI experience. The Galaxy S24 series allows you to use the power of Generative AI to create custom wallpapers. You have nine different categories/themes to choose from, each with a predefined keyphrase with a few keywords that you can change to get a unique set of images each time you hit the generate button.
You can then apply any of the created images as the home screen and lock screen wallpaper, which also changes UI elements such as the text color of Always On Display clock. We can see some users spending a lot of time on and having fun with generative wallpapers, but there’s something about the feature that may eventually begin to frustrate users: the inability to save any generated wallpapers as images for later use.
Once you are presented with a variety of generated images, you can set one of them as the wallpaper, and it’s the only one that is saved for later use. The rest are discarded and pretty much lost forever, as each time you go through the generation process again using the same category and keywords, the results are a little different.
There’s no clear reason why Samsung would omit a save feature, and it’s likely the company ran out of time to implement it. But it should be an easy fix, and here’s hoping it will be included in the first software update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra.
