Less than 24 hours after the official handing over to the new administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, fuel scarcity has resurfaced in Jigawa State.
DAILY POST observed that most of the filling stations have closed and stopped dispensing fuel, also known as Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, in Dutse, the state capital of Jigawa State, and its environs.
It was observed that the few filling stations dispensing have generated a long queue in Dutse.
This is coming hours after President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in his inaugural speech said that since the past administration did not budget for fuel subsidies, the payment is gone for good.
A commercial car driver, Malam Musa, blamed the marketers for their attempt to create fuel scarcity, causing unnecessary hardship for Nigerians.
“Even yesterday morning I bought the fuel at the rate of N230 per litre in one of the private filling stations but this morning we woke up and found that all the filling stations have closed except the NNPC station,” he lamented.
Another commercial car driver, Kamilu, said he bought the fuel at the cost of N300 per litre this morning.
“All the filling stations have closed, they are not dispensing the fuel and they all have it, I am even lucky to get it,” he said.
He said this would directly affect transport fares and the living condition of ordinary Nigerians.
