Is a fool at 40 a fool forever?

I have been hearing this saying for ages but i think it would be wrong to say that a fool at 40 is a fool forever because i have seen many people who appeared to be fool even at over 40 but who eventually made it in life and people had to respet them. Do you believe te saying?

Although i don't believe it but i think the saying is not really about what you are able to achieve at 40 but rather about your attitude and wisdom you have acquired and so it goes that at 40 you are supposed to have acquired some knowledge and wisdom that set you apart from teenagers.
