How to separate sand from garri

Garri is well loved and consumed by many Nigerians. It is produced locally but unfortunately the producers of this food stuff don't care about quality control as they allow sand to mix with it in the production process. Sand consumption has been linked to deadly health conditions such as Appendicitis so someone has to be careful. But our local producers don't care, all they are after is their profit.
Is there anyway we can remove sand from garri?
