Former Super Eagles Star Wilson Oruma Denies Reports of Ill Health

Former Super Eagles star, Wilson Oruma, has denied reports about his ill health, which recently went viral on social media. Oruma, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s gold medal win at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, has been out of the public eye for some years, and there were reports that he was seriously ill and in urgent need of medical help.

However, in a recent video that went viral, the ex-footballer confirmed that he was healthy and thanked his fans for their concern. He appreciated the support and love that people have been showing to him and his family, and he stated that he was well and looked so cute.

Oruma was the captain of the Nigeria under-17 team that won the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championships, and he was the tournament’s top scorer with six goals. He played 19 international matches for Nigeria and was part of the team that participated in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where he scored in the only appearance he made in the tournament against Paraguay.

He was also a member of the Nigerian squad that won the Olympic gold medal in 1996 and participated in the 2002 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing both competitions in third place. Oruma played for several teams in Europe, including Marseille, Nimes, Sochaux, and Guingamp.

Unfortunately, Oruma reportedly lost about N2 billion after being duped by a pastor while trying to invest in the oil and gas sector in 2018, which caused him an emotional disorder that left him broke. Despite this setback, he remains an iconic figure in Nigerian football and is still loved by many fans.
