The University of Calabar (UNICAL) is set to confer honorary degrees on three distinguished Nigerians, including former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, at its 35th convocation ceremony. The Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Florence Obi, stated that the recognition is in appreciation of the immense service to the growth, unity, and development of Nigeria by the three individuals. In addition to Jonathan, the Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Oil & Gas, Dame Winifred Akpani, and business mogul Tola Johnson, will also be honored at the ceremony.
Prof. Obi described former President Jonathan as having done many positive things for Nigeria’s unity, growth, and development. The 35th convocation will see 7,769 graduands participate, with 11 achieving first-class honours, 899 attaining second-class upper, 3,396 achieving second-class lower, and 721 obtaining third-class honours.
