Greece holidaymakers have been urged to do one thing just eight weeks before they depart. On the Foreign Office website, the government officials warn tourists that “at least eight weeks before your trip” you should ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest vaccine recommendations and health risks.

In their Greece travel advice on the gov.uk website, they urged people to check the latest vaccine recommendations for Greece. They further urged people to see where to get vaccines and whether they have to pay on the NHS travel vaccinations page.

For example, on the travelhealthpro websiite, the experts warn travellers that they should be up-to-date with routine vaccination courses and boosters as recommended in the UK. These vaccinations include for example measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-polio vaccine.

Where health risks are concerned, the travel experts add that there are five things people need to be aware of which you can read about here. This includes:

  • Altitude
  • Biting insects or ticks
  • Influenza
  • Outdoor air quality
  • Tick-borne encephalitis

In an emergency, you should dial 112 or 166 and ask for an ambulance. You should also contact your insurance or medical assistance company quickly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment, the Foreign Office warns.
