The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has begun career development training for its officers at the National Fire Academy (NFA) in Abuja.
The National Public Relations Officer of FFS, Mr P. O. Abraham, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Abraham said the training was in tune with the recent introduction of new promotion guidelines by the Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, incorporating mandatory career development training.
During the flag-off ceremony, the Controller General (CG) of the Service, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, urged officers to concentrate on the exercise, emphasising that successful completion of the course has become a prerequisite for promotion to the next level.
While commending the reform initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the CG highlighted ongoing plans by the Ministry to modernise the National Fire Academy, aligning it with international standards for emergency and fire training institutions.
Participants in the course, from state commands nationwide, lauded the CG for his forward-thinking leadership.
The Career Development Course (CDC) is facilitated by Vail Consultants, a prominent resource for fire and emergency training in Nigeria.
