Aston Villa have one of the best center back partnerships in the Premier League between former Villarreal man Pau Torres and England national team hero Ezri Konsa.
However, the depth behind those two starters is quite thin, and with Aston Villa heading to the Champions League for the first time, Unai Emery knows he needs some reinforcements at the position.
Aston Villa have been linked to some marquee center back targets, such as Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo, but a lot of those options have faded out of the spotlight.
Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa are among the teams pushing late to sign Juventus prospect Dean Huijsen, who is one of the most coveted young center backs in European football.
Huijsen is 19 and spent the last season on loan at another giant of Italian football, Roma. The Dutch international started 4 games and made 9 appearances off the bench, scoring 2 goals for the Giallorossi.
It is entirely unclear where Huijsen will land, but other Premier League clubs, especially Bournemouth after losing Lloyd Kelly for free to Newcastle, are gunning for the high-upside young center back.
Huijsen could make a lot of sense as another signing for the future for Aston Villa, yet he could also play a key role in the rotation as an understudy to Torres and Konsa.
