Chelsea lost 2-0 to Manchester City in their first game of this new Premier League season.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge in the first half with a fine finish.
Although the hosts fought hard to level the game, they were unable to put the ball past Ederson.
Former Blues midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, put the game to bed with the second goal.
Chelsea, in their first Premier League outing under new manager Enzo Maresca, fashioned some hopeful attacking moves through Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and recent signing Pedro Neto.
But they were largely outclassed by their more composed visitors.
Maresca will be looking to pick up his first three points when they travel to Wolves in their next league fixture.
