Team news from the Williams-Brice Stadium as Dominik Szoboszlai misses out entirely
Dominik Szoboszlai misses out for Liverpool as they meet Manchester United in their final pre-season friendly in the United States. The Hungary captain has played in both games to date, against Real Betis and Arsenal, but will sit out the clash with United at Williams-Brice Stadium due to fatigue.
It’s understood the absence is precautionary and the No.8 hasn’t missed any training sessions in recent days. But with the club flying immediately back to Merseyside after the full-time whistle in Columbia, head coach Arne Slot has chosen not to risk the £60m signing.
Slot said: “I think it’s our 13th day of the tour. Dominik joined every session and every game, and we played the last one two days ago.
“I think it’s a bit of fatigue and we don’t want to take any risks because we fly back to Liverpool tonight and on Tuesday all the other players arrive as well, so we want to start off then with all the players available and we didn’t want to take any risk with him today.”
Instead, Ryan Gravenberch starts for the Reds as the Netherlands international gets his first minutes of the summer. The former Ajax youngster joined up with his club-mates earlier this week after three weeks off following involvement at the European Championships in Germany.

The same applies to Ibrahima Konate who partners Jarell Quansah at centre-back. The France international also gets his first appearance of the pre-season schedule with Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas at right and left-back, respectively.
Harvey Elliott continues in his attacking midfield role with Curtis Jones also selected in the engine room as the Reds bring their three-game tour of the States to a close in front of close to 80,000 in South Carolina.
Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota both start while Fabio Carvalho completes the front three against Erik ten Hag’s men.
