Coventry v Hull predictions
Frank Lampard tasted defeat for the first time as Coventry manager in midweek as his side fell a 2-0 loss at West Brom in the former England midfielder’s third match in charge of his new job.
The defeat leaves the Sky Blues with just one win in their last seven matches, though that victory did come last weekend in an impressive 1-0 win away from home against a tough Millwall side.
The midweek round of action in the second tier leaves the West Midlands side sat 16th in the Championship table, four points above the relegation zone and 11 points shy of the play-offs, which is where the team’s ambitions were at the start of the season.
They go into Saturday’s match as odds on favourites for victory though as they take on a Hull side rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, just a matter of months on from narrowly missing out on a place in the play offs on the final day of last season.
The Tigers’ six match losing run did come to an end in midweek though as Ruben Selles led his new side to a 1-1 draw against a seventh placed Watford side in his second game in charge, offering some hope of an upturn in performances heading into the festive season.
The Championship’s two newest managers go head to head at the CBS Arena on Saturday, with Coventry strong favourites despite only two teams having picked up fewer points than the Sky Blues at home in the league this season.
An inconsistent Coventry side should have too much for a Hull side on very limited confidence sat bottom of the table – a 2-1 home win seems most likely.
Coventry v Hull betting tips
Coventry are strong favourites for Saturday’s match but have struggled at home this season with only two teams picking up fewer points at home than them and only two teams having conceded more home goals than the Sky Blues.
Hull appear to be somewhat on the rise after ending their six match losing streak with an impressive draw at home against Watford on Tuesday, but the Tigers have picked up just one point from their last five away matches.
Jack Rudoni has been one of Coventry’s star players since joining in the summer, with only three Championship players having assisted more goals in all competitions than the midfielder, despite playing for a side who have struggled in the league so far this season.
