Stephanie Beacham, who is known for her roles in Coronation Street and Dynasty, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2007 with dance partner Vincent Simone
Coronation Street icon Stephanie Beacham has opened up about her disdain for her time on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007. The 77-year-old actress, who partnered with Vincent Simone in the fifth season of the hit BBC show, was the second celebrity to leave the competition.
Having discussed her experience previously, Stephanie has now told the Daily Mail that she wasn’t a fan of her time on the dance floor, citing the intense “dawn to dusk” work schedule as the main reason. Set to appear in an upcoming film called Duchess, Stephanie remarked: “I loathed every minute of it. It wasn’t for me.”
She went on to say: “I would say if you really want to lose 10lb, and work from dawn to dusk, and you don’t mind all your hard work and sweat being filmed? Go for it, but it’s not something you’d do for the money. It’s a darn sight tougher than that.”
Last year, Stephanie, known for her role as Martha Fraser on Coronation Street, described her Strictly experience as “absolutely hateful” in an interview with OK! However, she confessed to still being a “fan” of the show and expressed praise for Anton Du Beke.
Despite competing against the likes of Kelly Brook, Kate Garraway, and Alesha Dixon, Stephanie has made it clear that she’s not keen on returning to reality TV, having dismissed the idea of joining Dancing on Ice. She humorously admitted she “choked with the laughter of it” when asked if she would ever consider participating in the ITV ice skating competition.

The acting legend, who has been a familiar face on our screens since the 1960s, appeared on Good Morning Britain in January to discuss her latest film roles with hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley. Susanna was wowed by the actress’ looks, even suggesting she had the “secret to eternal youth”, echoing the title of the film Forever Young.
Stephanie credited her “fabulous” appearance on eating “well” and possibly inheriting good genes. She also revealed that her mother remained “glamorous until she was 85” and lived a “whole lifestyle”, saying she “never saw her in slippers”.
