There was confusion in Umuahia on Saturday following the death of a musician, on the eve of a burial ceremony at Amuzukwu, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.
The musician, who was identified as Chika Ofor, was said to have slumped on his band’s stage on Friday night, some minutes after coming up to perform at a wake keep event for a 94-year-old man.
It was also claimed that Ofor, after collapsing, allegedly started vomiting and was brought down the stage by some people at the burial. He was eventually helped into his car, marked APR 520 KX.
But in the morning of Saturday, the musician was said to have been discovered dead inside his car.
It was not established if the late singer was suffering from any major health challenge before his death.
But there were allegations on social media that Ofor may have been poisoned through food even before climbing the stage.
The body of the late singer was later evacuated mid morning on Saturday, by his kinsmen from Bende community and some other sympathizers and taken to a mortuary.
DAILY POST could not confirm if the matter was reported to the police, or if the corpse was taken to the hospital for further medical examination.
