A former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, has dismissed as absurd the notion of a Buhari clone known as ‘Jubril of Sudan,’ in his new book titled: “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015 – 2023),” which was launched in Abuja last week.
According to Adesina, the rumour originated upon Buhari’s return from a medical trip in August 2021, and there were rumours circulating that Jubril of Sudan, a clone, had taken the position of the president.
He denied the allegations, citing an instance in which Buhari praised his clothes, and asked how a putative clone could know his identity and make such a comment.
Adesina confirmed Buhari’s popularity by expressing his disbelief at the baseless rumours and stressing the president’s warm welcome upon his return.
He described a scene in which the crowd’s ecstatic outpouring of love for the president was on display throughout the trip from Murtala Muhammed Airport to the Presidential Villa.
