Bandits have demanded a ransom of N4m for one of the eight members of the National Youth Service Corps abducted on a highway in Zamfara on Saturday.
The victims were travelling on an AKTC bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State, en route to Zamfara State to participate in the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps programme when they were captured.
Emmanuel Etteh, father of one of the victims, Glory Thomas, told Channels TV in a telephone conversation on Friday that the bandits called to inform him about the abduction of his daughter and asked him to pay N4m to secure her release.
“They called me with their line; they asked me to pay N4m. I spoke with my daughter because I asked how they wanted us to pay; she said we should contact the AKTC,” he said.
