No fewer than seven people from Kwanar Dangora town in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State have been reported dead in an auto crash that occurred along Kano-Zaria Road.

Daily Trust quoted witnesses as saying that the accident occurred around 6 pm when the deceased’s VW Golf car collided with an oil tanker, during which seven out of 10 people aboard when the accident occurred died.
A resident of the town identified as Tukur Lawan, said five people died on the spot while two others died at the Murtala Muhammed Hospital, Kano.
“We all attended the rally, and on our way back, the tragic incident occurred. We woke up today full of sorrow.
“After they collided, the tanker detached from the vehicle and crushed the Golf car against the barricade on the road,” Lawan said.
Lawan listed the casualties as Bala Kariya, Barau Kariya, Hamza Huntu, Danladi Gidan Algaita, Musbahu Gidan Diraman, Yakubu Gidan Diraman and Lawan Gidan Diraman.
Also speaking on the incident, another resident identified as Mahmud Abubakar Kiru, said residents of the whole town including the political leaders who attended the funeral prayers held at the victims’ different villages were shocked.
Kiri said that members of the national and state assemblies including the senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Kabiru Gaya, attended the funeral prayers of the deceased alongside other political office holders.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, there was no official security statement on the incident as the spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Abdullahi A. Labaran, said they had yet to receive information about the accident.
