Anthony Joshua ‘not too worried’ about Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk and gives update on plans after Francis Ngannou fight

Anthony Joshua is in doubt over whether Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk will ever fight amid talk on who he himself will fight next.

Before Joshua can dream of becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion he needs to take care of UFC icon Francis Ngannou in the ‘Knockout Chaos’ spectacle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

The Brit goes into the exhibition bout as the clear favourite with Ngannou only having one professional boxing match to his name.

However, Ngannou made a very good impression on his debut having given WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury a fright last October, knocking the undefeated ‘Gypsy King’ down in the third round of what many see as a controversial loss for the Cameroonian.

Should ‘AJ’ do the business against Ngannou, attention will inevitably turn to whether he’ll get another shot at a world title.

The heavyweight world titles are currently occupied by Fury and Usyk, who were due to lock horns on February 17, however, the former withdrew from the bout due to getting a cut just above his eye.

The fight has been rearranged for May 18, although some have cast doubt over whether a unification bout will ever happen.

And it seems that includes Joshua, who isn’t fixated on getting it on with the champs after his upcoming task against Ngannou.

When asked if he’s looking ahead to a potential fight with Fury or Usyk after Ngannou, Joshua said: “I’m looking forward getting back in the gym and building on everything I’ve been doing.

“In an 11-month period I’ve fought four times, I feel like I’m starting to get strong again, get my timing, get my rhythm.

Joshua insists he’s not concerned about getting either Fury or Usyk next

“I’m not too worried about Fury and Usyk – who knows if they’ll even get in the ring?”

Joshua has never fought fellow Brit Fury, with fans desperate to see the two lock horns experiencing a number of false dawns over the years.

The Watford-born heavyweight has faced Usyk on two occasions, losing both, which saw him vacate his WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight belts and miss the opportunity to win them back.

talkSPORT will be bang across fight week with live updates on the night while talkSPORT.com will be running a live blog as well.
