Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo has honoured a lawmaker representing Ondo West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Dr Abiola Makinde, with the prestigious fellowship award of the University.
The award, which was conffered on Makinde, during the weeklong activities marking the 60th anniversary of the University.
According to the management of the school, the award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education and humanity.
In his acceptance speech, Makinde, said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to stand before you today to receive this prestigious and honourary award as Fellow of this great institution on the occasion of the 60th Founders Day celebration of this remarkable university.
“This institution has a rich history of excellence and innovation, and it is a privilege to be recognised among such a distinguished company.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the university’s management and the selection committee for bestowing this honour upon me.
“Your recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the collective efforts of the many individuals who have supported me throughout my journey as Member House of Representatives. This award is as much theirs as it is mine.
“The values and education imparted by this university have played a crucial role in shaping many careers and personal growth of the students.
“As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, I am inclined to reference the enduring legacy of our founders, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for what we see today.
“May we continue to uphold their ideals, striving for excellence and making a positive impact in the world. Once again, thank you for this incredible honor. It is an accolade I will cherish forever.
Honourable Dr. Abiola Makinde has made significant strides in various capacities. As a member of the House of Representatives, he has been instrumental in advocating for policies that empower the poor and promote equal opportunities for youth.
His political career began with his appointment as the Caretaker Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, where he was recognised as the best-performing Local Government Council Chairman.
His tenure was characterised by impactful community development projects and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.
