The senior Adeleke, who is the Chairman, Pacific Group, announced the donation at a thanksgiving service held in honour of his younger brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in Lagos.
A statement signed by the spokesperson for Osun Governor, Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday partly read, “At a thanksgiving for Governor Ademola Adeleke, Dr Deji Adeleke announced as follows: ‘In honour of our late mother, Senior Mother in Israel, the late Mrs Esther Adeleke, I donate N1bn to the Centenary Endowment Fund of the &S Church.’
“The Baba Aladura and Prelate of ESOCS Church Worldwide, Dr David Bob-Manuel, had earlier announced that the church will be 100 years old by 2025.
“This was the high point of the thanksgiving where the lecturer, Deputy Baba Aladura, Elder Dr H.O. Demuren, commended the Adeleke family for their topnotch philanthropy.”
The statement quoted Demuren, as saying: “The Adeleke family and their members are rare gems. They serve the lord and humanity in humility and consistency.”
