Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and other indigenes of Ikenne Local Government on Sunday welcomed former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo after completing eight years as the second-in-command to his principal, Muhammadu Buhari.
At a reception, Abiodun commended Osinbajo for “his outstanding role towards achieving a successful poll in the state during the 2019 General elections.”
Abiodun promised that the state government under his administration would continue to be proud of Osinbajo’s “sterling leadership” while in office
During the public thanksgiving and appreciation reception organised in honour of Osinbajo by the Ikenne Development Association, Abiodun described the former vice-president as a man of “impeccable character,” whose eight years, he said, engendered positive development to the entire country.
He narrated that Osinbajo’s “trail blazing records in good governance and public administration were inherited from the former Premier of Western Region, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo”, adding that Osinbajo had raised the bar.
He commended the Law Professor for his “unwavering loyalty” to President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
In their separate remarks, the governor of Bayelsa, Duoye Diri, his counterpart from Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, described Osinbajo as a detribalised man, who they said served the nation meritoriously.
Responding, Osinbajo thanked Nigerians for appreciating his contributions to the growth of the nation during his days in office.
