A statement by the school on Tuesday revealed that the delegation’s visit also underscored the growing importance of Nigeria to the school, which had nurtured numerous Nigerian students over the years.
At a reception hosted by High Achievers Academy at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, Harrow School officials expressed their gratitude for the strong ties between the institution and Nigerian families.
The event, aimed at fostering closer connections with the Nigerian community, featured remarks from key members of the Harrow leadership team.
The Head Master of Harrow School, Alastair Land, spoke about the significance of the school’s relationship with Nigeria.
“It’s a pleasure to be here in Nigeria, a country that has contributed so many bright students to Harrow over the years. This visit is not just a thank-you to the Nigerian families who have entrusted their children to us, but also an opportunity to explore the possibility of expanding our presence in this dynamic country.”
Land emphasised that the school had a deep respect for the commitment Nigerian parents made when sending their children abroad for their education.
“We know how much it means for a parent to send their child across the world to a boarding school. We honour that trust. It’s an important part of the Harrow community, where once a boy joins us, he becomes part of our global family for life,” Land added.
This is Land’s first visit to Nigeria, although he had previously visited other African countries.
Proprietor of High Achievers Academy, Yemisi Akindele, who facilitated the event, welcomed the opportunity to connect Harrow’s leadership with the local community.
“This event is a unique chance for current and prospective parents to learn more about Harrow’s exceptional legacy, academic offerings, and future opportunities.
“It’s also an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the Harrovian community here in Lagos and the school itself,” he said.
