UNICEF organizes capacity workshop for Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi CSO’s, Media


The United Nation Children Education Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with sokoto, Zamfara and kebbi states have organized capacity building workshop for the civil society organizations, Media on public financial management, child friendly budgeting in the states.

The joint capacity building for CSO’s and Media was declared opened on Monday at Kamba Hotel in Birnin Kebbi,the state capital by the acting Head of service (HOS) Hajiya Aisha Usman in the state.

The acting HOS Aisha Usman assured UNICEF, other development partners and participants of the workshop of the kebbi state government commitment to support developmental programmes in the state.

“Collaboration with Non governmental organization on Opened Government Partnership (OGP) joint capacity building workshop is a welcome development.”

She appreciated the efforts of UNICEF, stressed that the workshop is an important avenue where more knowledge would be impacted, urged participants to stay focus and learn from the resource persons.

The 45 participants were drawn from sokoto, Zamfara and kebbi states comprises of civil society organizations, Media and people with Disability including NGO’s such like Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) based in Zamfara state.

It was expected at the end of the meeting to come out with commitment that will be secured from the CSO’S to influence budgetary allocation for children across health, Education, and social protection in the next 2025 fiscal year budget.

It is also to develop road map for effective citizen participation from the budget formulation to monitor and report budget performance in the states.
