Liverpool transfer news as Luis Diaz comments hint at long Anfield stay following a turbulent summer of speculation
Luis Diaz is thriving under Arne Slot’s guidance at Liverpool, playing an integral role in the team’s climb to the top of the Premier League with five goals in just seven appearances. Despite summer transfer rumours linking him with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, and even comments from his father about a desire to join the latter, Diaz’s commitment to Liverpool has been evident.
Even though he’s not among the highest earners at Anfield and there were talks of a £100million price tag for his services, the Colombia forward’s form has only improved since Arne Slot took charge. Diaz has praised the head coach’s impact on his game, especially his scoring streak, in a chat with Sky Sports.
“I think the training sessions are helping a lot,” he said. “Also, the confidence that the coach, and the team, gives you when everyone is playing well and things are going well. I think confidence is really important.
“The coach always tries to correct the movements you need to make in order to be well-positioned to get to the goal better and score more goals.” Diaz has also praised the high demands of Slot, especially regarding work rate and the enjoyment of their effective methods. “The coach asks the same from all of us,” Diaz said.

“What I have in terms of my characteristics is what he wants. He also tried to instil a lot of tactics in us. He works hard in that sense. He asks us to always run back and to defend, to form a good defensive block.
“So what he tries to do is to work and plan and think about that side of things, but also while enjoying it because it’s always important to have that enjoyment. But knowing you have a job to do.”
This warm endorsement seems to confirm Diaz’s contentment at Anfield, clearly displaying his love for the game. It also quashes rumours about Liverpool planning on transferring him out for a hefty sum either this January or in the coming summer.
Having joined Liverpool during the 2021/22 season when signed by Jurgen Klopp, Diaz boasts an impressive record of 29 goals in 105 matches, as well as winning an FA Cup, two League Cups and taking part in a Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Despite personal challenges last year including the kidnapping of his father Luis Manuel Diaz in Colombia who was thankfully released after being held captive for 11 days, Diaz remained committed to playing for his team. Liverpool are now reaping the rewards.
