<p>Imperial’s Kearl oil sands mine is supported by a large work force of dedicated technical resources and engineers.<br>
The Mine Design team is composed of civil, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and reclamation professionals supported the Kearl asset.  This team ensures geotechnical stability and safety, develops technical design specifications, and interfaces regularly with Operations and Projects teams to support the ongoing safe development and progression of the Kearl mine.<br>

</div><div><p>We currently have an opportunity for a new graduate civil / geotechnical engineer in training (EIT) within our Kearl Mine Design team.</p>
</div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What you will do</b></H2>
</div><div><p>Under the mentorship of experienced engineering staff you will apply skills in the areas of surface mine civil infrastructure design and geotechnical support.</p>

<p>Specific duties could include:</p>

<ul>
<li>Complete geotechnical designs for mine pit walls, overburden disposal areas, material stockpile designs, develop and execute surveillance plans for new and existing operating mine areas</li>
<li>Engage in risk management and stewardship activities for supported structures</li>
<li>Support Operations organization in construction and execution of designed structures</li>
<li>Coordinate with third-party geotechnical lab on materials testing, testing priority and budget management</li>
<li>Coordinate with core lab to ensure proper workflow, testing/sampling, application of facies descriptions</li>
<li>Supporting geotechnical design, surveillance, and reporting for Kearl’s tailing structures and dykes</li>
<li>Generating haul road and equipment maintenance pad designs for 400t haul trucks and electric cable shovels, including generating engineering drawing packages and construction execution packages</li>

</div><div><p><b>Skills and Qualifications</b></p>

<ul>
<li>New Graduate from a geological/geotechnical, civil, or mining engineering undergraduate university program</li>
<li>Have up to 3 years relevant industry experience in related work scopes</li>
<li>Occasional trips to the Kearl Mine Site, including overnight stays in camp, will be required, possibility to provide vacation coverage for Geotechnical Field Engineers</li>
</ul>

<p><b>Preferred Qualifications/ Experience</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Have experience in completing slope stability analysis. Experience with GeoStudio Suite of programs such as Slope/W and Seep/W is an added benefit</li>

<p><span style="font-size:16.0px"><b>Eligibility to work in Canada</b></span></p>
