1. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, says he is still a member of the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. Amaechi, who is among the 10 ministers, whom Buhari bade farewell to on Friday, announced this in Kaduna State on Sunday.

2. A Presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, says President Muhammadu Buhari does not understand politics. While addressing delegates and party leaders in Katsina on Sunday, Mohammed said Buhari failed to live up to expectation because he is surrounded by deceitful people.

3. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Mr Joeé Santos Peseiro as the new head coach of the Senior men’s national team, Super Eagles. Ademola Olajire, NFF’s spokesman disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.

4. Terrorists have reportedly taken over communities between Mutun-Daya and Gunu in Sarkin-Pawa Road, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State. According to sources, these communities, which are about 20 kilometres from Minna, the Niger State capital, are currently under siege.

5. Gunmen, on Saturday morning, attacked and killed two policemen, three civilians, and left several others injured in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. It was gathered that a vehicle conveying the police officers and some civilians were attacked by yet to be identified gunmen while coming from a colleague’s burial.

6. The Sokoto State Police Command, on Sunday, debunked reports that it has categorised one of the suspected killers of Deborah at Shagari College of Education as a foreigner from Niger Republic. ASP Sanusi Abubakar, spokesman of Sokoto Police Command in a statement, described the publication as an act by some mischief makers.

7. The Christian Association of Nigeria, on Sunday, said it would explore all avenues to get justice for Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, who was lynched last week for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.

8. Aileri Emmanuel, mother of Deborah Samuel, the murdered Sokoto State student has said she would never send her remaining seven children to school because of the gruesome killing of her daughter. She stated this yesterday in an interview with reporters.

9. The negotiations between the Federal Government and the abductors of no fewer than 68 Abuja-Kaduna train passengers may have deadlocked following the insistence of the gunmen on the release of their commanders in exchange for the abductees. It was gathered that the gang insisted on a swap of their men in custody with the passengers.

10. The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, on Sunday, warned those fanning the embers of war to desist from such acts that are capable of fueling religious war in Nigeria. He insisted that the South-West will resist any attempt that could trigger a crisis and disturb the peace in the region.
