Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has claimed he would not be responsible for choosing the new captain of the national team.
According to him, the players will pick their new skipper.
Erstwhile captain of the team, Ahmed Musa is currently clubless and is not expected to play international football again.
Musa’s deputy, William Troost-Ekong has captained the Super Eagles in most of their games in the last couple of years.
Experienced centre-back, Kenneth Omeruo, who is now the most senior member of the team is also favoured to take up the role.
Finidi has however said he will allow the players decide, who will lead them.
“It’s not my responsibility (to pick a captain), it’s the responsibility of the team,” he said during his media tour.
“People said (Sunday) Oliseh picked his captain and Finidi George should do same
“It’s not my responsibility to pick a captain.
“The players will choose the person they are comfortable with.
“They will be them to decide who wears the captain’s arm band.”
