The Yobe State Government has assured farming communities of adequate security as it tasked security agencies on the need for inter-agency collaboration to stem the tide of farmers/herders clashes in this year’s farming season.
Governor Mai Mala Buni gave the assurance during a routine joint security meeting held on Wednesday.
Buni, represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, maintained that, the purpose of the meeting was to review security situation of the state as the rainy season is approaching.
“There a is need for maximum security collaboration among security agencies to ensure peaceful farming season and to avert clashes between farmers and headers,” he said.
The governor commended the security agencies for their efforts at ensuring peace, law and order in the state.
He equally appreciated and noted the effort of traditional rulers and community leaders in conflict resolution in their various domains.
The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Ahmad Garba, while briefing newsmen, assures that security agencies would intensify surveillance and increase patrol across the state to stop the menace of farmers/herders clashes as well as other criminal activities.
