Xiaomi MIX Flip and MIX Fold 4 to have more cameras than Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5
According to reports from China, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its first flip phone, the MIX Flip. It will reportedly have a triple-camera setup featuring a 50MP primary camera (1/1.55-inch) with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 60MP telephoto camera (1/2.8-inch) with 2x optical zoom. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a dual-camera system with a 50MP primary camera (1/1.76-inch) with OIS and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
This phone will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and have two-way satellite connectivity for emergency communications.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a triple-camera system with a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It will be countered with Xiaomi’s upcoming MIX Fold 4, which has a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 60MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
Despite packing one more camera and a bigger battery, the MIX Fold 4 is said to be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. In fact, Xiaomi’s upcoming device will be the world’s thinnest foldable phone. It will also be Xiaomi’s first foldable phone with an IP rating for water resistance. It will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Both upcoming foldable phones from Xiaomi will be launched in the third quarter of this year, coinciding with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Despite strong hardware, Xiaomi’s foldables will likely remain limited to the Chinese market, failing to put enough pressure on Samsung to create more feature-rich and advanced foldable phones.
