At least 20 people have been confirmed killed in two communities of Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
New Telegraph gathered that 15 villagers mostly women were on Thursday night attack and killed in Tilengpat, Pushit, communities of Mangu Local Government Area (LGA).
Also on the same Thursday night five persons including a Student of Plateau State University were killed in Butura Communities of Bokkos Local Government.
The Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area, Hon. Markus Artu confirmed the attacks and killings of the people on Thursday night.
However, Students of the Plateau State University Bokkos on Friday staged a massive protest over the midnight attack in the neighbouring community of the institution leading to the killing of one of the Student residents off campus.
A source from the School told New Telegraph that incessant insecurity challenges around the school communities prompted the students to embark on protests to express their grievance on the death of their classmate.
The security agencies in the State, both the Police and Operation Safe Haven are yet to issue any statement on the last night’s attacks.
Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Plateau State Chapter has called for the swift intervention of President Ahmed Tinubu in addressing the escalating attacks on the people of Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The APC in a Press Statement on Friday through the State Acting PRO Hon. Shitu Bamaiyi expressed deep concern over the continuous loss of lives and property inflicted by terrorists who have turned these areas into battlegrounds.
The party highlights the urgent need for a more aggressive and decisive approach to counter the escalating terrorist activities that seem to have spiralled beyond control.
