Chelsea fullback Marc Cucurella posts on Instagram after making his first start for Spain since 2021
Chelsea fullback Marc Cucurella was in the starting lineup to face Brazil in international friendlies. La Roja started the game on the front foot when Rodri converted a penalty won by Lamine Yamal. Dani Olmo doubled Spain’s lead before Rodrygo gave Brazil much-needed impetus with a goal.
16-year-old teenager Endrick levelled the score in the 50th minute. Spain was once again in front when Manchester City star Rodri scored from a spot-kick. Brazil bounced back with an equalizer when Lucas Paqueta scored from a penalty in the 96th minute to end the game in a draw.
After the game, the fullback posted on Instagram donning Spain’s shirt with the caption, ‘’Happy to wear La Roja again. And we are on!
Meanwhile, Cucurella played full minutes and had a good game, especially defensively. The left-back returned to action after an ankle injury he picked up in December. If the former Brighton & Hove Albion player continues to perform well, then he will have a big chance of making the Spain spot for Euro 2024.
However, since arriving at Chelsea for £62 million, Cucurella hasn’t lived up to that expensive price and has endured an inconsistent performance. The left-back key issue with his ability to become an integral part of the squad has been due to his patch exploits, which have impeded his ability to become a quality fullback for his international team and club.
Cucurella’s primary issue is that his performance isn’t perpetual, despite the fact that he is an extraordinary left-back with the potential to be a key contributor. If Cucurella wants to keep his spot in the Spain team, he will need to prove himself as Euro 2024 approaches and Chelsea enters a pivotal part of the season.

There are a number of left-back options in Spain, including Jose Gaya and Alejandro Grimaldo Karea, who may be selected ahead Cucurella. The 23-year-old will need to play at the highest level all season long if he wants to make the national squad.
