Met Éireann issues rain warning for Cork and Kerry

Cork and Kerry have been issued with a 24-hour weather warning for Monday through to Tuesday.

Spells of heavy will fall across the two Munster counties from 3pm on Monday afternoon through to Tuesday, with Met Éireann issuing the status yellow warning on Sunday evening.

It says: “Spells of rain Monday and Tuesday coupled with high tides and onshore winds.

“Possible impacts include wave overtopping and localised flooding.”

The overall forecast does not make for good reading.

Monday will be mostly cloudy to start, but rain and drizzle will break out in some places.

Met Éireann’s prediction continues: “Through the afternoon some brighter and drier weather will develop but along with a few showers, some possibly heavy.

“By evening time a band of rain will move into the southwest.

“Highest temperatures of 7 to 11C with light southwest or variable breezes.

“Once again, coastal flooding is possible due to unusually high tides.”
