Six facts about Lagos Red Line Rail


The Lagos Red Line Rail Project, inaugurated recently, represents a significant step in improving intra-city transportation, reshaping the urban landscape and setting a new pace for development

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasised that beyond enhancing mobility, the project aims to reshape the urban landscape and catalyse development.

Here are six key facts about the project:

Spanning 13 stations, the rail line features double lines from Ikeja to Agbado.

It covers a distance of 37 kilometres

Upon full operation, it will have the capacity to transport up to 1.1 million passengers daily.

Stations along the route include Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Sogunle, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, Ebute Metta, and Iddo, with convenient connections to both the international and domestic terminals of Murtala Muhammed Airport.

The journey from one end to the other is estimated to take just 35 minutes.

It will also share the right-of-way with the Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway.
