JC Architects takes over Patio renovation project
Patio by JC Architects underwent a substantial transformation, navigating the shift from a retail layout to a dynamic hotel space in Athens, Greece, expanding across five above-ground levels. The central feature of the architectural design is the atrium, strategically positioned to facilitate circulation and accessibility while maintaining guest privacy and optimizing natural light and ventilation. The practical aspects of the timber blinds on the facade extend beyond visual elegance, filtering urban noise, modulating sunlight, and establishing a rhythmic interplay between form and function. Material selection is a key element, as reinforced concrete, metal, and wood converge to establish a visual aesthetic.

Crafted coatings, incorporating colored aggregates, bring sculptural depth and texture to both exterior facades and interior spaces, enhancing the overall sensory experience for guests. Additionally, the design team seamlessly integrates motifs inspired by the work of Alekos Fassianos, adding a layer of cultural resonance to the architectural narrative. Whether subtly embedded within spatial boundaries or prominently featured, these artistic references contribute to the building’s aesthetic language, fostering a harmonious dialogue between form, function, and cultural context.
