More specifically, the Eco-Friends case range for the Galaxy S24 series consists of 57 NFC card designs across 16 popular IPs (intellectual properties), including bands like Rolling Stones and Stray Kids.
The Stray Kids NFC card for the Galaxy S24 Ultra case even comes with a video of the artists.
Samsung’s new cases for the Galaxy S24 series were developed by the company’s Future Generation Lab, which focuses on reflecting Gen Z’s preferences for eco-friendly products and sustainability, Samsung says.
Flipsuit and Eco-Friends are becoming indistinguishable
If the concept behind these new Galaxy S24 Eco-Friends cases sounds familiar, it’s likely because the new lineup borrows the Flipsuit concept from the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The first Eco-Friends accessories were originally introduced in 2022 (and re-released in 2023) and promoted post-consumer materials (PCM). Likewise, the latest Galaxy S24 cases contain at least 40% PCM.
What’s changed this year is that the new Eco-Friends cases feature NFC cards, not unlike the Flipsuit case Samsung announced for its Galaxy Z Flip 5 last year.
Whether Flipsuit and Eco-Friends are becoming one is unclear, but all these accessories are based on the same concept, i.e., you can slide NFC cards behind a transparent case to customize not only your phone’s exterior but also its theme, wallpaper, and icons.
The idea is to buy just one case and personalize it through NFC cards, thus cutting down on plastic waste if you want to express yourself through different designs. The concept debuted with Flipsuit, but it’s now crossing over to Eco-Friends.
As for availability, Samsung says the Galaxy S24 Eco-Friends cases are available in Korea and will be released in more than 40 countries, including the USA and Japan, in the first half of 2024.
