By John Owen Nwachukwu

Irate women protesting over the fallout of the recent killings in some communities in Plateau State, on Friday, burnt down the residence of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi.
Bakkos town, in Bokkos Local Government Area, is one of the communities where the killings took place.

It was gathered that the district head’s house was razed around 12:30 on Friday.

The women were said to have been angered by the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the killings.

An eyewitness told reporters that “the incident began at the police station, where they [the women] expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community”.

“After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the eyewitness added.

However, the violent nature of the protest led to the arrival of soldiers who dispersed the protesting women.

DAILY POST reported that the state police command confirmed the arrest of eight people in connection with the attacks.

In attacks on about 23 villages between December 24, 25 and 26, DAILY POST reports that over 200 people were killed, many others injured and hundreds of houses razed
