An unspecified number of students of the Federal University of Gusau have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits terrorizing parts of the State.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on Friday morning when the assailants reportedly invaded the Sabon-Gida community, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The criminal elements reportedly attacked three female hostels, shooting sporadically before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination.
Efforts by DAILY POST to reach the State’s Police command proved abortive as the command’s spokesman, Muhammed Shehu was unable to pick up calls.
However, a resident of Sabon-Gida, identified as Nazeer Sabon-Gida, confirmed to Channels TV that the gunmen invaded the community around 3 am Friday.
According to him, three students’ hostels were attacked and all the students in the hostels were taken away by the bandits.
“They entered the town around 3 am and started shooting indiscriminately.
“We have yet to confirm the number of students kidnapped because the bandits entered three hostels and kidnapped all the students there. It is difficult to ascertain their numbers now,” he said.
