Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), on Friday, confirmed the death of nine persons, with 11 others sustaining various degrees of injuries in an accident while traveling on the Gombe highway
The Sector Commander, Felix Theman, in a statement on Friday, noted that the accident occurred at the Bomala Junction on the Gombe Southern bye-pass at about 8pm, as a result of brake failure from a trailer conveying gallons of vegetable oil.
According to him, 11 passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and nine other passengers lost their lives in the accident involving 20 passengers.
The sector Commander noted that those injured were taken to Gombe Specialists’ Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe (FTHG), for treatment.
He advised drivers against over-speeding, especially in overcrowded areas, adding that the speed limit within the metropolis must not exceed 40 kilometre per hour.
