A Barcelona legend has suggested that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo should return to their former clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.
Messi and Ronaldo engaged in one of the greatest rivalries in football while playing for two of the largest clubs in the world. While Ronaldo has left European football to play for one of Saudi Arabia’s big-spending clubs, Messi is also rumored to be considering a move to the Arab nation.
When his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season, the Argentine will depart the Paris-based club.
“It would be good for him and for football to see Cristiano Ronaldo return to Real Madrid to finish his career,” Rivaldo told AS. “Of course, the fans have to understand that they cannot demand the same from him as they did when he was 25 or 26 years old, but he can still assist the club in achieving more success.”
According to reports, Al Hilal is willing to pay €400 million per season to entice Lionel Messi to Saudi Arabia.
