Why is Nigeria Educational System Not Productive?

This is something some may not agree with. I noticed that in this country we are only consumers and not producers and despite the fact that many of the southerners in this country are educated, we are still not productive. Our industries is being run by the whites while our graduate Engineers are either jobless or doing jobs that has nothing to do with Engineering. We import almost everything despite having graduates, masters, phd and professors in Engineering and Tecchnology, Why?

Our educational system cannot be productive simply because of corruption and selfishness on the part of our policymakers, apart from their incompetence and lack of focus. They have successfully destabilized the education structure handed over to us by the British and introduced a system that is just theoretical oriented. Today, we have Engineering graduates who cannot operate workshop machines and not to talk of produce anything with it. We have Engineers, Phd holders and Professors in our universities who are only good at cramming theory, laws and formulas but unable to transfer practical skills to students.
The whole education system needs to be overhauled for our country to make progress.
